Burn ("we", "our", "the app") is a bookmark management app that helps you read and organize saved links. Your privacy matters to us.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address to create and manage your account. We do not access your password.

Bookmark Data: URLs, titles, and content you save in the app. This data is processed to provide AI summaries and categorization.

Device Information: App version, iOS version, and device model. Collected with analytics events and when you submit feedback.

Usage Data: We collect basic app usage events (such as app opens and feature usage) with a randomly generated device identifier. When you are signed in, events are linked to your account to improve your experience. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs or advertising trackers.

3. Chrome Extension (Bookmark Autopsy)

Our Chrome extension scans your browser bookmarks entirely locally. No bookmark data is uploaded to any server. The extension requests the following permissions:

When you use the optional AI diagnosis feature, only aggregate statistics (total count, top domains, year distribution) are sent to our server for analysis. Individual bookmark URLs and titles are never transmitted.

Your bookmarks are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. If you sign in, bookmarks are also synced to our cloud database (Supabase, hosted on AWS). Cloud data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
